The Husum wastewater treatment facility (GER) treats wastewater from the North Sea town in a particularly challenging setting: Up to 60 % of the facility’s capacity is utilised by a nearby abattoir. In summer, there are also selective increases due to tourist activity, as well as heavy downpours typical for the region, which are bringing a lot of load with them due to the blocked sewers in the historic city centre. “All in all, our wastewater treatment facility has to be designed to be highly flexible and be able to handle enormous differences in the entry,” says Dieter Petersen, Operations Manager at Stadtwerke Husum Wastewater Disposal.
Our AEROSTRIP strip diffusers provide the solution: in a retrofit project, over 450 AEROSTRIPs were installed in the two basins of the facility. They now ensure optimum flexibility in the challenging situation of the wastewater treatment facility and rapid adaptation to the various operating conditions. The ultra-fine air bubble diameter results in very efficient oxygen inputs. The large range for the specific pressurisation of the individual diffusers enables good controllability, so that no under- or over-aeration is to be expected in any operating or load condition of a wastewater treatment facility. “The advantages of our AEROSTRIPs are fully utilised in the Husum wastewater treatment facility,” summarises Rüdiger Vrabac, Branch Manager at AQUACONSULT Anlagenbau GmbH in Germany.
